AMANDA is about a weird unlikable girl who can’t connect with anyone except another weird unlikable girl. benedetta porcaroli is magnetic in the title role. it’s worth noting this film is by first time female director carolina cavalli, and i hope she keeps making movies like this one

as a flop house listener i’ve heard a lot of talk about THE TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE over the last decade and it lives up the hype. an absolutely taut thriller that’s unexpectedly funny. gotta include the theatrical poster because it’s too good

THE EMPEROR’S NAKED ARMY MARCHES ON is a DOCUMENTARY FILM, baby. it’s streaming on criterion so i’m including their excellent description. highly recommended for anyone interested in this type of confrontational, fraught documentary filmmaking.

THE PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC was a singular experience, since i got to see it in a silent movie house with the original score played live on the organ, but i think in any setting it would be an arresting film.
