I hope this Nobel Prize gets people talking meaningfully about our amazing immune systems and the importance of basic research to human health (and funding basic research).

I am also glad young women get to see that women can not only work at this level, but that those who do can get recognized.

We need to improve body and health literacy (we're doing that at UterineKind) so these types of operations don't have a shot. The amount of money burned, and the risks taken, because people lack basic foundational health knowledge, is awful.

The fact that women have two sex chromosomes of the same type may be the secret to their living longer than males because that makes their bodies more resistant to damaging mutations.

This is a fascinating writeup of a study on birds, which switch which sex has mixed and same chromosomes.
