Off to shower! This is how I have to tackle showering - bag the leg in rubbish bags (2!) to keep the cast dry. Taped with waterproof tape.

The risky bit is transfering from shower chair to knee scooter on one leg on a wet floor after the shower! 🥴

This leg must not touch the floor! For 6 weeks.
Well, seems we have an issue. The discharge instructions I was given BEFORE coming into either hospital I'm now told were incorrect.

No idea WTF is going on now!

Wait until tomorrow to get it sorted, I'm told.

At least two patients were told the same thing. Based on that I've organised a ride

@scuttlebutter1.bsky.social This is my chronic illness/exercise account. 🤗

Good news is the air mattress has alleviated my spine discomfort (all the sitting/immobility) and I got a good night of sleep.

Even on the BP med, my BP is still higher than my normal. Not happy about that.
So today's interesting development is I now have an air mattress.

Darn think keeps pumping itself up and is noisy!

I didn't realise it would be noisy! 😂

So there's new developments, apparently.

Those of us with this type of ankle surgery are now only allowed 1 physio session a day to ensure we reach the 23 hours per day elevation of the foot!

I'm grumpy. My last ankle is perfect. What's the bet this is because enough patients didn't do rhe right

I have a question.

WHY ARE SOME PATIENTS so f'ing selfish/disrespectful?

This is a damn hospital. If you want your TV blaring the races get headphones, close your door, do something to show RESPECT for other patients!

🤬🤬🤬

The guy in the room next to mine is driving me insane!

Busy day! Visits from Dr and pharmacist. 2 physio rehab sessions. I'll sleep well tonight!

Yes, it is impossible to get into public hospital outpatient clinics. I've been waiting 2 years re sleep specialist, for example.

Need a techo.

Have my phone connected to the hospital wifi, but my laptop says "Cannot connect".

Frustrating!

A mini bacon & egg pie for morning tea.

Bit weird, yes?

Well, this is depressing! 🤣🤣

Garmin steps graph for the week 1 - 7 Dec.

1/12 - Day before surgery packing etc, missed goal.

2/12 - Day of surgery, so no steps after midday

Rest of the week? So minimal! 🤣

Tomorrow it will look even worse!

"COVID Shots Tied to a Lower Risk of Death From Any Cause"

According to a nationwide study of 28 million people in France, vaccinated adults had a 74% lower risk of dying from severe COVID-19, and a 25% lower risk of death from any cause compared to unvaccinated.

And dressed, with lippy! Finally!

Nicely settled in the rehab. 😁

Nurses are lovely, food is acceptable.

Have a GREAT room, away from nurses' station so quiet. Lots of room to maneuvre my knee scooter.

Here, however, I have to get dressed (to go to the gym for physio etc) so no lounging around in PJs!

Arrived to lovely flowers!

Transfer done! Phew!
They ALMOST didn't let me go because my BP was up (due to lack of sleep, the constant noise here and the NSAID). 😱

However with careful breathing I got it down.

While all that was going on, the transport people took someone else.

HOPEFULLY I'm next.

What a day! 🥴🙄
Waiting, waiting. Am I getting transported soon?

I'm told 4 patients are going across today, but we go 1 at a time. I could be first or last. No idea. 🤷🏻‍♀️

10 am is the first trip, I'm told.

A bit frustrating, to be honest. I'm more organised than this in my own life! 😂

WHERE IS BREAKFAST??

8 am and I'm starving!

Why is breakfast served SO LATE in this hospital? 🤬

Still at the surgical hospital. Off to rehab hospital tomorrow.

Off the "big" pain meds already, which is good.

Other than that, not a lot to report today (Thursday).

My leg is still bright pink! 🤣 I've showered. Cannula removed.

Sick to death of lying/½ sitting with foot elevated already. 😂
Most importantly THE NAILS ARE DONE!

Yes, I got clearance before painting!

Colour details in alt-text for anyone who likes the colour.

Wednesday morning brief.

Pain totally under control! 👏👏😁

Didn't get a lot of sleep plus they woke me at 5 am to do obs. 🤬 Will be glad to get to Rehab hospital - very few obs there!

Already allowed to use knee scooter to take myself to the toilet, YAY. Bedpans and I don't get along!
I am finally out qnd back in my own room. Nerve block didn't work, but pain not too bad after a heap of drugs, no idea what.

Bit dopey, just letting you know I survived! 🤣

There is a plaster cast under the bandage.
