Rheumatoid Arthritis patient. Previously diagnosed Psoriatic Arthritis patient. Probably both. Two titantium knees.
Off to shower! This is how I have to tackle showering - bag the leg in rubbish bags (2!) to keep the cast dry. Taped with waterproof tape.

The risky bit is transfering from shower chair to knee scooter on one leg on a wet floor after the shower! 🥴

This leg must not touch the floor! For 6 weeks.

A mini bacon & egg pie for morning tea.

Bit weird, yes?

Well, this is depressing! 🤣🤣

Garmin steps graph for the week 1 - 7 Dec.

1/12 - Day before surgery packing etc, missed goal.

2/12 - Day of surgery, so no steps after midday

Rest of the week? So minimal! 🤣

Tomorrow it will look even worse!

First physio session done! Approval granted for me to use my own dumbbells for bicep curls, shoulder press, lateral raises. 🏋🏻‍♀️🏋🏻‍♀️

And dressed, with lippy! Finally!

Nicely settled in the rehab. 😁

Nurses are lovely, food is acceptable.

Have a GREAT room, away from nurses' station so quiet. Lots of room to maneuvre my knee scooter.

Here, however, I have to get dressed (to go to the gym for physio etc) so no lounging around in PJs!

Arrived to lovely flowers!

Most importantly THE NAILS ARE DONE!

Yes, I got clearance before painting!

Colour details in alt-text for anyone who likes the colour.

Visit from physio. Was given official knee scooter driver ✅️

This is page 1 of 4 pages of instructions!

The whole leg is bright pink! 🤣 Up to about 5 cms above the knee!

Rehab hospitals MUCH quieter. No beeping machines. Call buttons infrequent. Etc etc.

Our complex is 15 units, most 1 bedroom but there are two bedsit units.

This is a mesdy, photo, I was in the process of moving in, do still organising.

You can't see the dining table or TV etc on the right, so there is more room than shown. Bsthroom is off bedroom, basically behind the kitchen.

I am finally out qnd back in my own room. Nerve block didn't work, but pain not too bad after a heap of drugs, no idea what.

Bit dopey, just letting you know I survived! 🤣

There is a plaster cast under the bandage.

This will be my last steps achieved 4 weeks (daily goal is 7,500, my daily average was 7,924) for about 3 months. 😢😢

See quoted post below for why! My right ankle is going to look like the RH pic for way too long for my liking!

Love the end result, hate the recovery period. 🥴

I'm going to brag a little bit. Look what I've managed to do, despite my chronic conditions, multiple ortho surgeries etc etc! Not sure I'll get to the target, my looming ankle fusion has a long recovery so my fitness will drop while I do the recovery thing. Even so, I'm pleased.

FINALLY getting there! This is my first FULL week (7 days) of reaching or exceeding my daily step goal after getting discharged from hospital on August 13 (see post below for details - atypical pneumonia).

I've been concentrating on recovery, not writing. 🤗
October 8, 2025 at 4:15 AM
This is the result of a lumbar spine MRI on Aug 11, I had the DEXA scan on Aug 22, so you can see for me bone density is important! As is maintaining posterior chain (back muscles) strength to support the damage.

My first 2 km walk since the pneumonia episode! I'm getting there!
September 5, 2025 at 12:34 AM
Finally! Today I achieved my step goal for the first time since my atypical pneumonia saga, including the days in hospital!

Those of us with #ChronicIllness have to be carefull after a layoff.

Have also been to the gym 3 times this week, but shorter sessions & dropped the kgs lifted a bit.

Snapped these while out getting the last of my steps for the day. Cold, wet, winter's day, but we still have flowers! 🌱

For those wondering my goal is 7,500 steps a day.

I think the DMs contained phishing links.

Here are a couple of screen shots. I THINK that's how I got hacked. I received a similar message a while ago and must of taken my IT hat off for a moment and clicked the link.
