Sad times, in a world where the text inviting me to steak dinner at someone’s house (from “sender is not in your contact list”) is probably a scam. Or maybe just a wrong number. But I would have eaten that steak.

I bought one of my (favorite!) bikes from this organization. Good stuff!
My latest: "...that sense of freedom that kids get is the core of it all. Being able to move about independently and have that sense of being able to go somewhere at an accelerated rate... So if they have the bike, that affords them a real sense of autonomy. "

Perhaps this is more about over reliance on freemail than anything else, but anyone else getting bombed with “news” about Trump and Musk in their Yahoo box? I keep moving it to junk/marking as spam but their AI doesn’t seem to catch on…

The park service volunteer who did the presentation at Independence Hall (in Philadelphia) on Thursday brought tears to my eyes. Government of the people by the people for the people is such an important concept. We have to get a handle on this.

Celebrate International Women's Day by interrupting men with your unsolicited opinions and taking credit for their work. If they get upset about it, be sure to tell them that they sound hysterical and should smile more.

How about a filter that prevents you from seeing reposts that you’ve already seen? I swear that would fix like 80% of all platforms’
enshittification issues.

So, who’s got a good democracy reading list? Do I have to read the Federalist Papers again (we did that in grad school, it was actually very inspiring)?

In full agreement with this take, yep. “Cringe” is life, my darlings, so get comfortable cringing.
I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

I frequently think about how we learn how life should work through movies (and stories overall). Hoping there’s someone else watching today.
Black Legion (1937) is anti-Klan but, yes, amazing.

I am hoping to use the inconvenience of a TikTok ban to break the spell, not moving towards some other way of hitting the video highs.

A right-wing talk radio host posted on Facebook screenshots of emails that claimed “20,000 plus Haitian immigrants” were “dropped off” in Logansport, IN.
The numbers originated from a social media satire page. It was the first snowball in an avalanche of misinformation and hate .
Right-wing media launched a migrant witch hunt in rural Indiana
Hate groups, a local politician, and the Heritage Foundation tried to take advantage of the misinformation-fueled panic

I think I have taken these pictures every year at the Kalamazoo holiday parade, but they make me happy anyway. Great drum cadences from all the local marching bands too. Time for a nap…

The problem of the leopard print coat: it looks really great with basic clothes, but then you have to take it off inside, and you’re looking basic. Or you wear it as I do, with everything/anything, and you show up at the gym in a leopard coat and galaxy print leggings. Oops.

Coffee shop eavesdropping- and here I thought the grandma / new mom / toddler / infant table was going to be the most disturbing when it’s actually the sales dude training duo.

I feel bad following @possumeveryhour.io while holding out on pics of my house possum, Sketti. Who is definitely a cat, but she kind of reminds me of a possum when she runs.
