I never watched the whole thing, so I restarted this week.

Don is pretty clearly a wreck from the beginning. He screws up with Menken, goes into a meeting with Lucky Strike with absolutely no plan, and we end the episode learning he’s married and with kids.

Yep - we'd have less car dealers and more service workers if the pay was better.

I mean he’s not wrong. But the solution is “pay them more AND crack down on corruption.” You can’t have a situation where it’s so easy to buy reps.

Yep. We are never going to convince people they do not want to be strong and successful. What we have to do is convince them that strength comes with responsibility, and that showing that responsibility is proof of your worthiness to hold power.

I think the next step is “oh well. What’re you going to do about it? Whine and prove them right, or live your life and be a good man regardless? They don’t control you.”

I think you have to activate some pride - it’s the counter to criticism.

This is a real “everybody’s 12” moment.

Yeah no doubt. The mega conferences make all this worse because you can be in a good conference and play no one…or a crazy schedule. And you don’t know until that year.

It’s all incentives though. The committee is saying very clearly that nothing matters as much as pure # of losses. If they don’t want teams to respond to that incentive, gotta make it clear.
