So is this a palace intrigue thing? She’s been cut out of Venezuela so needs to find a way back in?

This is another very clear piece of evidence that shows you this is not some capital/class-driven political project. This is going to destroy the economy of this town.

But they don’t care, because this is fundamentally a racist enterprise. It’s the core goal now - tax cuts buy them donors.
I know all eyes are on Minneapolis, but there's a fast-approaching nightmare in Springfield, Ohio.

Trump is revoking protected status for tens of thousands of Haitians living there on Feb. 3.

Reportedly, on Feb. 4, 1000 ICE agents are arriving to remove this population. Ethnic cleansing.

Second person I’ve seen posting this to dunk. Anyone want to guess what comes after that last sentence? It was cropped out of the other one as well.

There's a really interesting addition to this. Miller actually called Caputo after the story was published. You can see his replies in the picture. But I don't think I can recall any prior story where Miller did anything other than double- and triple-down on his villainy.

One thing that always sticks out to me is the distinction between "are you right about the narrow thing you've chosen to cover" vs. "is the thing you're covering important."

These guys, even today, hang their hat on the first question and seem baffled anyone would ask the second.
im sorry but we just spent the last decade being told the biggest issues were pronouns in emails and a trans kid playing jv lacrosse

if you said these things and got paid for it then you need to go away. literally if “woke mind virus” is something youve ever said unironically you need to go away

The problem is the game basically ended after three quarters. Which sucks for everyone, beyond just the bad football for a quarter.
Yeah anyone who says this weather makes for enjoyable football is lying. Ooooh you like watching dudes slip and throws fall short? BE FOR REAL
This is terrible football IMO

I would have thought that, as a pundit who got the Iraq War wrong by deferring to popular opinion at that point in time, MattY might have learned a lesson.

He did not, and the idea of “figuring out what’s right and stand for it regardless of polls” escaped him. Would have been useful this year!
One of the dumbest posts, if not the dumbest, of 2025 — and also one of the most damaging, in terms of curbing Dem willingness to lead public opinion on immigration. Look at where that graph is now! Yeah, their brains are broken like everyone else. I think, like other conspiracy theories, some people find it comforting to believe that the super-rich are engaged in some evil but well-considered plot.

They aren’t. They are addicted to the internet and have cash to pursue idiotic grudges.
Super-rich chatgroups (and their own posts) have shown they have a whole universe of petty / inexplicable / bigoted / eugenicist grievances that they consider sufficient cause to justify burning down the rule of law, civil order, and international stability that made them rich in the first place.
It is genuinely insane to watch capital decide that allowing this shit to go on is better for them than having to allow the FTC to do mild monopoly investigations and require cancellation buttons on websites.

I can’t believe pissing off the only group of people who pay for news hasn’t worked out.
According to an internal email to Washington Post sports staff, the paper isn't sending any reporters to cover the winter Olympics next month. The decision comes as major layoffs are expected in the coming weeks.

It’s very frustrating to me that the only people in American public life who seem interested in persuasion are the most hateful.
Thinking about how republicans were going to the border nonstop in 2024 even though fucking nothing noteworthy was going on and doing interviews and press conferences with their asshole supporters down there and screaming "SHE'S NEVER BEEN TO THE BORDER" and made it a national crisis
