In Super Mario Galaxy, Mario actually loses his arms when becoming Spring Mario, which is hidden by the spring enveloping his body. By unloading the spring model, we can see what is really happening to Mario.

By using a Mushroom at an unfortunate angle in 200cc mode on the GBA Mario Circuit track in Mario Kart 8/Deluxe, it is possible to land in one of the tires decorating the course. The tire is inescapable, forcing the player to lose the race.

Launch day copies of Super Mario 64 DS contain glitches that were fixed in later production runs. One of them is the Yoshi Squish Crash, caused by eating a Boo in water. The next time Yoshi attempts to lick, he will squish humorously, and the game will crash.

In Mario Party 9, Mario, Luigi, Wario and Waluigi all have the same skeleton structure (identical bones merely arranged at different distances), which means they are able to load each other's animations. Of course, as this was never intended, they appear severely deformed.

In WarioWare: Get It Together, all characters have an internal ranking of how good they are supposed to be at certain microgames. All of them have special voice lines for surprisingly losing a game they are good at or surprisingly winning one they are bad at.

New Super Mario Bros. 2's overworld theme is an arrangement of the NSMB theme with more "bah" vocals. Similar vocals exist for the SM3DW overworld edit theme in Super Mario Maker 2. By adding them to the gameplay track, we can get a "New Super Mario 3D World 2" style mix.

In Super Mario 64/DS, drowning overrides other death animations. As such, if the player character dies from fall damage while about to swim, he will appear to be so bad at swimming that he drowns immediately upon touching water.

In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, if Mario jumps onto a moving block under the influence of star power, he may become stuck in a somersaulting state. As long as no further inputs are made, Mario will keep somersaulting indefinitely, even after the star power wears off.

In Yoshi's "Loves Me...?" minigame in Super Mario 64 DS, an event has a chance to happen if the game is played for long enough whereby all the petals will fall off the flower immediately. While the "Loves Me Not" text is not displayed, both Yoshi and the flower react accordingly.

The 1984 Japan-only Punch Ball Mario Bros. for home computers features a bizarre story in which Mario and Luigi are presented as primitive humans with "no knowledge of sophisticated culture" who have not developed any tools except for balls.

The gameplay is nearly identical to Mario Bros., except that Mario has a ball.
Translation of the story:
At some point, humans gained the ability to use tools... At first, they were simple things using the bones of animals and fragments of rock. Using their wisdom, humans improved their tools. Harnessing fire, wind, and nowadays even atomic energy, they began to build up a sophisticated culture.
On the other hand, however, there are people who still only use stone. How do they catch game and defend themselves from outsiders? Using only their strong jumping power and stone spheres. They use those skillfully to defend themselves.
Here, we introduce two such people. It seems their names are Mario and Luigi. Will they ever learn about sophisticated culture?

Mario Kart 7 greatly deforms some drivers' models to get them to fit into their karts. The greatest modification is made to Rosalina, whose legs are considerably shortened.
