Ruffles the feathers of most things Winnipeg related
Since 2016, here are the Jets drafted along with year they became a regular:
>Samberg, 2022
>Kovacevic, 2022 (in MTL)
>Gustafsson, 2023ish?
>Chisholm, 2024 (in MIN)
>Perfetti, 2023

End of list.

I’m not sure I trust Jets dev staff to turnaround prospects in time to compete in 37’s window.

And perhaps an element of the locker room finally being cohesive with strong camaraderie since the tire fire state that Maurice/Lowry left it in back in 2021, that even if there were lows that the culture could keep things afloat.

Only guesses, though. Only Chipman/Chevy/Arniel know for sure.

In that, I think they grossly underestimated just how much Ehlers contributed to the PP1's outstanding performance, an extremely healthy year, and generally lots of players with career years in outshooting expectations. Doubling down on system/depth over talent was missing the forest for the trees.

My guess is that the Jets brain trust assumed that as long as they could protect Hellebuyck's crease and give him vision, they'd be fine scraping by with scoring talent with 81-55-13 at 5v5 and on the PP - they only needed to patch the holes with vets that could understand and play that system.

Had to get him back in time so Jets could finally overcome some early season injuries and offensive woes to bolster their lineup by... *checks notes* stapling him to Toews and Namestnikov as their 2nd line

Jets look like they have to work hard for every inch in their breakouts, while the Avs cut through the Jets defence like a hot knife through butter

Welcome to "that feeling in your bones" bsky.app/profile/wpgc...
I feel like Leafs are more likely to trade for Luke Schenn so they can also entice Brayden Schenn to come, as opposed to Jets being enticed by any offer that has a defenceman in return for Lambert

I feel it in my bones that either WPG or TOR will end up with both Schenn bros this year though, lol

…to sweep things under the rug and ignore the possibility of a steep decline because the bad vibes were finally gone after the 2019-23 turmoil, and players were happy to be paid in Winnipeg in front of a Vezina/Hart goalie. And now that and Stanley is the only thing they got going for them.
