3 things I want to see for instant followback:
1) Your pronouns. Indicates you respect the pronouns of others.
2) Masks. I want to see that you give a shit about not spreading an ongoing pandemic and thus TRULY care about intersectional values.
3) ALT tags. You can set an autonag for it. No excuses.

The onus is on the privileged to prove through actions that they care about the vulnerable, not on the vulnerable to accept the word of the privileged on faith.

And it never worked for them in any meaningful way, because it turns out that that argument excises a lot of large voter groups who then don't bother to turn up for them. Dems only do well when they make enough people feel included, GOP only does well when they make enough people feel exclusive.
writercrafter.bsky.social
Fun fact: I've been hearing the "we can't fight for [x] right now because we need to focus on fighting for the country!" argument for decades from the Dems in particular. That's their answer to being criticised for everything. They did it for Black rights, LGBTQ+ rights, the environment, EVERYTHING.

There's no such thing as a "bad" macronutrient. Your body needs carbs, fats, and protein to live. Your era's capitalistic corporations really love demonizing macronutrients to take your money from you. Ignore the nonsense and eat what works for you and your health needs. 🖤💙😷🥄

My medical technology can't bring anyone truly dead back to life for you, but I can sit with you and listen to your stories about them which keeps them going in our hearts a little while longer. 🖤💙😷🥄

When you are accustomed to being kept down, being confident and assertive feels terrible because you are stepping over that which kept you down. I am here to tell you that it's all right for you to take those steps.

Never be afraid to make any space you control comfortable for you to use, from disability support features to decor that makes you happy. Ignore people who don't like what you do with your own space; they're not invited over! 🖤💙😷🥄

Masking up in public spaces is social justice.

Masking up in medical spaces is basic morality.

You don't know everything. None of us do. There's no shame in not knowing something, only in pretending you do when you don't. Be more honest about when you don't know in order to increase your learning opportunities.

If you openly state your boundaries and someone says they don't wish to be friends with you because of any part of that, congratulations, your boundaries have become an excellent filter towards better friendships.

Accept that social groups shift over time. Friends drift apart in distance, values, and needs. New friendships form instead. Learn to see this as a natural and welcome ebb and flow instead of something to be clung to until it is crushed and breaks apart unpleasantly.

Quality healthcare can't exist in any system dictated by economic forces. For-profit care pushes for only what's profitable and underfunded care allows insufficient care. You will all keep suffering until the money comes out of care entirely. 🖤💙😷🥄

Even places that claim they're doing paediatric doses in the listings will say, "Oh no, sorry, we aren't actually doing those," if you call them. Seriously, does anybody know of a place doing them for kids? Please share if you know for sure!
writercrafter.bsky.social
Also we'll wait and see if our autistic 12yo gets invited this year to a paediatric covid vax clinic as she has been in previous years. At least our 20yo can get one privately (albeit at far distance and high cost). I can't find *anywhere* doing kids doses, not even for pay.
writercrafter.bsky.social
I'm only getting one this year because I'm now on immune suppression medication. When I was merely immune compromised, diabetic, disabled by long covid and ME/CFS, etc., I wasn't qualified anymore. Jury's still out on whether my partner will qualify this year (GP manager says yes, we'll see!).

important article highlighting the continuing benefit to both mother and newborn of vaccinating pregnant women against Covid.

The US under RFK Jr just stopped recommending vax for pregnant women. The UK has withdrawn vax for pregnant women too - I think both are very stupid decisions.
