What I'm learning is that Tokyopop's translator for Petshop of Horrors was Leon/D truther and I need to put more respect on their name.
(No shade on the new version; it's poetic and elegant in its own right. But I actually think the TP version has its own charm that holds up. Think YYH dub.)
