After publishing this article, I've heard from many that CR seems to be using AI to produce dub CCs. Now, thanks to a slip-up CR had with episode 6 dub of The Banished Court Magician, we can say that with 100% certainty: Crunchyroll is using the AI service Ollang.com for its dub closed captions!

Finished watching WAYWARD and man, I really loved it. Thinking a lot about Alex as a character and how carefully Martin threads the needle around his character, and what a brilliant stroke deciding to play him themself is.

I like the Summer Hikaru Died dub, it's well acted, but it does feel like a missed opportunity not to go for Appalachian accents--the specific regional drawl was clearly a very important of the process for the Japanese cast, and someplace like West Virginia feels like an appropriate equivalent.

Glad they decided to put Reze's arc off in a movie; to me it's the nadir of part one (for 4 arcs out of 4) going "okay but what if, a woman baited Denji with the promise of sexual favors. And then betrayed him. 😲" just fucking over and over again. After Reze it finally finds other shit to do.
