The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess- Not quite as entertaining as May I Ask for One More Thing but this was a pretty funny spin on the villainess formula and framining it as the heroine cringing at something she wrote when she was 12 feels very on the nose for an isekai. Down for more

Gintama: Mr. Gintama's Zany Class- Does feel weird getting mire animated Gintama after like 5 different endings but a spinoff like this is probably the best way to do it and the series is as funny as ever. Also appreciate the willingness to poke at how much they're milking it

SI-VIS: The Sound of Heroes- Not sure what to make of this based off the first episode but idols as superheroes seems like a decent enough concept and this is the rare modern anime original work that's getting two cours so I'm contractually obligated to see where it goes

I know it's likely innaccurate to place all of MAPPA failings on one guy and there's probably many factors that have resulted in their current state but he does seem to have been at the helm of MAPPA going from an arthouse studio to a hype factory and it doesn't help

Much as I'm glad he got to make his dream project at M2 with Pluto, it's hard not to imagine what it's like on Earth-2 where Masao Maruyama never left MAPPA or at the very least he didn't leave Manabu Otsuka in charge of it

This is something fans are desperate to ask about. The planned movie, ICE ADOLESCENCE, was officially cancelled by MAPPA, which left many fans heartbroken as they loved the series dearly. We know this is a sensitive topic, and you may not be able to discuss it, but fans would be incredibly grateful for any insight you could offer as to what went wrong or why the movie was ultimately cancelled.

Hideo Katsumata: I can’t talk about the details, as that includes some very private matters. But if you ask whether it’s a creative or business issue, the reasons stem from the creative side. The main reason is that it couldn’t be made due to creative reasons. Since it was an original animation, the people involved—including the creators and the animation studio, MAPPA… among the creators, on the creative side, a situation arose where it just became impossible to proceed with production.

At least going by how callouslly Manabu Otsuka has talked about Yuri on Ice not being enough of a financial success for MAPPA specifically it seemed more like he was mad they weren't higher up on the committee, but there's also been hearsay that he and other higher ups at MAPPA wanted to
