Yesterday's #pota #hamradio activation of US-0665, Craters of the Moon National Monument was after I'd done most of the main loop around the park. Though the sun helped, it was just above freezing and I could only do about an hour.

NEW: US airlines (Delta, United, American, etc) will shut down a program in which it sold hundreds of millions of your flight records to government agencies, including ICE, FBI, ATF, more. Comes after intense lawmaker-pressure and 404 Media's months-long reporting

Enjoying #pluribus so far. Robert Bailey, Jr, killed it in this scene. I can't wait for the eventual #plur1bus without context feed.

Brought my radio with me to Utah. I spent most of Monday hiking around the Needles District of Canyonlands NP. Needed a break from the heat and found a nice picnic shelter to activate US-0010 Canyonlands NP.

Below are the Needles in the distance.

SeaTac concourse D has a general toilet room with discrete, full height, walled and locking stalls! Anybody can use any unoccupied toilet room. Solves the queueing imbalance problem, not as creepy as stalls with gaps, and lets everybody do their business in peace.

Supporting the last marathon of the season tomorrow. The radio on the left is a loaner for the event, one of the newer 800MHz from the massive infrastructure project PSERN did. Coverage is excellent (and should be). On the right, my Yaesu FT5dr #hamradio.

The experience of browsing a news site using Microsoft Edge on a freshly installed Windows 11 machine. (e.g., before you can add all the things that make the internet suck less).

🍽️ "Thai Green Bean Stir Fry" (link below, recipe in alt) today.

Learned: leave the tofu alone and it will eventually crust and come off the pan *a lot easier*.

Doubled the green beans and spices, served over brown rice.

A medley of oyster, brown beech, cremini and shiitake mushrooms roasted with two diced shallots, splashes of olive oil, and a package of gnocchi. Bake for 25 minutes at 375F. To serve, add some Parmesan cheese. 🍽️

Made Pad See Ew last night 🍽️

Caramelization worked great and very little was left sticking to the pan.

Finally mastered the fresh noodles from Uwajimaya - the trick was to put them in very hot water for about 10-15 minutes until they unfurl.

Could have easily added more broccolini.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:
