When I was 13, I wanted to write horror novels like my then favorite author Dean Koontz. But I couldn't figure out how to write anything longer than a (very) short story. My dad wrote to Koontz, included one of my stories, and asked if he had advice for me. Koontz did, in this lovely letter.
