Since the erection of their holiday display in front of the New Hampshire State House, their artistic depiction of Baphomet holding a bouquet of purple lilacs the New Hampshire state flower, and an apple of knowledge has been vandalized and repaired at least 6 times. We commend their perseverance, and admire their commitment to freedom of religion and freedom of speech.

The Iowa Department of Administrative Services told Satanists they couldn't host a holiday celebration in the Capitol, citing "elements that are harmful to minors."

I saw the proposal. There's nothing offensive in it.

We are saddened to announce that our event at the Iowa State Capitol has been forcibly cancelled by the Iowa Department of Administrative Services. We have made every effort to work with them to ensure a successful event, but after over two months on the official Capitol events calendar we have been informed that our event will no longer be allowed. Our goal was to promote tolerance and acceptance of diverse religious beliefs, with a theme of finding a light in the darkness and welcoming the darkest nights of the year with joy and camaraderie. We are no stranger to obstacles in advocating for religious pluralism and freedom of speech, and we will continue to fight for the rights of Satanic Temple members and our local community. We encourage Satanic Temple members and supporters to keep the seven tenets of The Satanic Temple in mind. As a peaceful law-abiding organization, we will embody the spirit of wisdom and compassion in the face of injustice. Hail Satan, Hail Iowa. Our liberties we prize, and our rights we will maintain!

A wider field view of Westerlund 1. A dense cluster of bright stars, each with six large and two small diffraction spikes, due to the telescope’s optics. They have a variety of sizes depending on their brightness and distance from us in the cluster, and different colours reflecting different types of star. Patches of billowing red gas can be seen in and around the cluster, lit up by the stars. Small stars in the cluster blend into a background of distant stars and galaxies on black.
