The “$1,776 checks…come from Congressionally-allocated reconciliation funds intended to subsidize housing allowances for service members, a senior administration official confirmed.”

This was supposed to increase the military housing allowance. Now they’ve blown their load in a lump sum payment.

More than $2.9 billion in reconciliation funds was allocated to beef up troop housing allowances. Now it’s being used for $1,776 checks.

I cannot emphasize how serious an assault on democracy this is. Any effort by the Trump administration to engage in false claims of fraud or mass voter suppression relies on this as a building block. As importantly, there is no legitimate reason DOJ would want this information.
🚨BREAKING: The Department of Justice (DOJ) sued Georgia, Illinois, Wisconsin and Washington, D.C. Thursday for unfettered access to the states’ voter registration records. The federal government has now filed lawsuits against 21 states, plus D.C.

This is a developing story...

Repubs voted against extending the ACA tax credits because it would increase the deficit by $30 billion a year. But the Trump "administration" has blown up the deficit by $167 billion, and they always find ways to cut taxes for the wealthy.

Red states will be hit hardest.

How is that no one talks about how many properties are being hoovered up by private equity?
President Trump promised he’d bring down persistently high housing costs, which he said were caused by one group in particular: immigrants.

But that contrasts with economists’ widely held view that the problem comes from housing shortages.
Trump officials keep blaming housing costs on one group: Immigrants

The White House claims the vote to rename the Kennedy Center was “unanimous.” That is false. I was muted on the call and denied the opportunity to speak or register my opposition. That is not consensus. That is censorship.

Trump has rackets inside of rackets.
Lobbyists have occasionally been hired to seek pardons under previous US administrations. But the efforts were less widespread than during Trump’s second term, where seeking pardon has become 'a rational thing' for convicted criminals and those fighting those charges. ft.trib.al/0jG7CKk
