Sorry to hear this. I love that your daughter did this. Enjoying and experiencing art. Never a right or wrong way. I‘ve had similar experiences sadly. We become by default ambassadors for disability because others no empathy or experience.

It is a season with everything funny historical, serious historical, contemporary story, dystopian future, near future and a crazy LSD story - it was the 60s.
xris32.bsky.social
Tenth Planet - such a great idea behind a base under siege story. The original you may say…mmm, my boy! Great opening two episodes but struggles how to resolve but boy are those Cybermen scary. A monster scary for the concept and the visuals.
xris32.bsky.social
Smugglers - like Savages I think this could be more interesting than we think. The recovered footage and snaps shows some real darkness and I think Ben and Polly add more character to the companions and play an active role.
xris32.bsky.social
War Machines - have always had a soft spot. Before BOSS, there was WOTAN. Love the contemporary setting and new companions. First real time 60s who felt like it was in the 60s. Still think Hartnell facing off a War Machine was great - he still had it
xris32.bsky.social
Savages - looks so dark and moody from the stills we have. Yes, it does have a whiff of Star Trek plot but always view this as the first proper dystopian culture in Who.
xris32.bsky.social
Celestial Toymaker - concept sounds more interesting than execution. The danger of the situation is never really convincing.
xris32.bsky.social
Gunfighters - fun, quirky and slow build to tragedy. Owes a lot to The Romans and Mythmakers. Stories that the actors seem to enjoy doing.
xris32.bsky.social
More Hartnell and these would be better. The fact that they all have a plot device to hide the Doctor becomes so repetitive. Steven and Dodo cannot hold the show together.
xris32.bsky.social
I think this series always gets a battering but I always feel the stories are doing some bold and interesting things. The problem is the main cast and how they are written. We have disappearing Hartnell and suddenly companions being the Doctor. The instability of the Doctor is the problem.

I am blogging again!!!

Like many others, I've moved over to Substack for a bit of a refresh. First entry is on school improvement - where to start, and what things matter.

I'm weirdly a bit nervous about it it's been so long 😭😭

School Improvement Starts Here: Behaviour, Participation, and Memory
All schools can improve, but it's often hard to know where to start. In most contexts, we can begin by asking three simple questions.
