The truly weird part is that call time is 90 minutes before the show. So we ushers end up sitting around for 90 minutes while we're on the clock.
Far be it from me to complain about being paid for sitting around. But it just feels backward that there's no grace for showing up -just a little- late.

The reason I ask: my ushering job opens the doors 30 minutes before call time and locks them at call time. We have a 30 minute window to show up. If we're late at all, we get sent home, and then we get written up for missing a shift.
I can't think of a reason. It just feels like a power move.
