It’s surreal how fast the United States has fallen into a dictatorial regime.

Checks and balances are gone, the president disappears innocent people into foreign prison camps, words get banned, and the Overton window shifts at light speed.

I honestly wonder these days when they will come for me.

Public Libraries can be wonderful places where children and adults can find books that they can see themselves reflected in, no matter who they are, and books that can introduce them to entire other lived experiences. Both are so valuable!

I can’t think of a single dystopian novel or movie that imagined our government filled not with aliens but ignorant conspiracy theorists, Russian assets, sex criminals and grifters.

Please remember, if you find yourself sliding into hopelessness or apathy: Native people have gotten through things like this for 250+ years, and are still here today. Welcome to the fight. Look to us in times of despair. We need you. It will take hard work, but if you're willing, take our hand.
