The most diminutive of birds, will piss
Into the sea.

Now I want a bumper sticker that reads:

Thus they relate,
Erring.

I have found this to be very hard

I generally endorse poetry bumper stickers, but no. Exactly the opposite.

Never apologize for using an Arden @ardenpublisher.bsky.social !even if it's Arden 2!

Well, by "way out", I mean, avoid having to make a choice either way. Avoid having to do one thing or the other.
zacharylesser.bsky.social
stalling also is a way to see what others do. Prisoner's dilemma is at work here.
zacharylesser.bsky.social
it's meant to stall; they are buying time hoping to find a way out. That's my guess.

So the secret to Bluesky is... kebabs?

Kofta kebab recipe in England c. 1660. Amazing find!

Would anyone like to take a guess at the word before “kebob”? Which predates OED - ms is 1660

Proposed reply:

Dear Secretary McMahon,

Our offer is this: Nothing. Not even the fee for the gaming license, which we would appreciate if you’d put up personally.

Sincerely,

“No self-respecting university could ever accept something like this,” said Lee Bollinger, a First Amendment scholar and former Columbia University president. “Trying to protect conservative ideas against being ‘belittled’ — that’s about as violative of the First Amendment interests as you can get.”
Colleges weigh whether to sign onto Trump plan or forgo federal benefits
A new proposal from the Trump administration would give colleges funding advantages if they adopt conservative priorities.

They were such a revelation. I first tuned in to them with Fables, then found Murmur, and then realized that Reckoning was my favorite. I lost track of them after about 1990 and I think they declined but I think people don't realize how incredible they were for a stretch in the 80s

Also, if the university gives Trump their mobile number, they get 10% off their first order
zacharylesser.bsky.social
Oh yeah I had this last time you posted about it. Delicious!

No but I'm gonna! You're killing me on a fast day though

Oh that's very far from the passport place which is not far from my house

Where's this sandwich exactly?

Delightful. Something similar happened at my house about ten years ago when i burned something in the kitchen and set off the alarm

was just looking up Penn's policy on students' recording classes for some reason...
"Students are not permitted to share, copy, or distribute recordings of live class sessions or any prerecorded class content without the permission of the University and the instructor. Students may also not make their own recording of class sessions. These actions are violations of the Code of Academic Integrity."

And that doing those politics isn't synonymous with abandoning one's values or throwing people under the bus. Or doesn't have to be.

Coates made that point well I thought, and showed how it emerges out of a particular tradition, as does Klein's misperception of it.

But I think Klein was also right about certain segments of the left preferring easy judgment and condemnation over hard politics.

Is this just a misuse of the word "novel"?

They should close their library too. All those books, who's really using them anyway?

"Bucknell has decided to close its highly respected, decades-old UP in June 2026. The stated reason? The press serves scholars, not Bucknell undergrads. Bucknell undergrads—& some grad students as well—disagree." FANTASTIC piece on BUP's student internship program. networks.h-net.org/group/discus...

This serves as a warning to other universities who have sought to punish faculty for similar comments: the law is not on your side.

Faculty don’t lose their right to speak about matters of public interest simply because they work for a public university.
