To all my fellow graphic novel fans… read Drome.

Jesse Lonergan has crafted an epic that’s equal parts creation myth, love story, and action spectacle. The art is gorgeous, the story is captivating, and the way it plays with the framing of its panels is one of the coolest things I’ve seen all year.

80th Film Watched in 2025 - The Life of Chuck (2024)

What an effortlessly charming and beautiful examination of life! Purpose, passion, and perspective on full display, with a magnificent cast and stellar script to back it all up. I genuinely feel like my soul is happier after watching this. ❤️

Sorry bro, not quite 80%.

(This is a joke, please don’t take it seriously! 😅)

What fictional creature/villain traumatized you as a kid?

Does the alien Mr. Burns from The Simpsons count?

79th Film Watched in 2025 - Parthenope (2024)

Parthenope is one of those films that I can’t say I understood with any certainty, but I still found it beautiful, moving, and intoxicating. There are elements that did NOT work for me, but Celeste Dalla Porta commands the screen like none other.

78th Film Watched in 2025 - Frankenstein (2025)

Guillermo del Toro and his films are what made me fall in love with cinema, and his new adaptation of Frankenstein is phenomenal. One of the most gorgeous films I’ve seen in a long time, with every facet of its design firing on all cylinders.

Just watched the first episode of Pluribus and it’s one of the best pilots I’ve seen in years! Vince Gilligan doesn’t miss, and it’s so cool to see him do a sci-fi mystery show after doing crime (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) for the past decade plus. Also great to see Rhea Seehorn again!

Trying to catch up on some games I’ve missed over the past few months, so I’m heading to Sicily for a bit.

My sister and I must have rented this game 10+ times. I’ll never forget going into Family Video and having one of the employees tell us they were having a used movie/game sale and that they kept a copy of this one aside for us since they knew we liked it so much. And yes, we bought it then.

Sometimes I like to look at the stats page for my blog and see all the countries that I’ve somehow gotten a single view from. Who is that one person in Aruba and how did they stumble across my writing? How about the one soul from the Isle of Man? This kind of stuff fascinates me to no end.

77th Film Watched in 2025 - Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)

There’s this old saying that “if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all”.

Yup.

76th Film Watched in 2025 - Weapons (2025)

This was… fine. Not the “horror masterpiece” everyone was claiming it to be, and I felt like it’s tone was all over the place, but there is some great creepy imagery and a terrific performance from a certain “Aunt”. Little disappointed, to be honest.

Slightly late to the party, but Season 2 of Peacemaker is great so far! John Cena does a terrific job of elevating a character that could be seen as a joke into one with depth, and the story that’s being set up has a lot of potential to say something meaningful. Looking forward to more!

75th Film Watched in 2025 - Ballerina (2025)

I need like a hundred more of these. Just keep making John Wick spinoffs with attractive people doing crazy fight scene choreography. Or just give me more action movies with Ana de Armas. 😍

After nearly 160 hours with the game, I’ve FINALLY gotten the Platinum Trophy in Death Stranding 2! 😁

I finished the new season of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy over lunch today, and this is probably the best example of an IP making fun of itself, acknowledging criticism, and playing with memes/fan service in a way that doesn’t feel cringey. Loved it!

I’m playing Costume Quest for the first time and there’s a fellow redhead also named Zack! Although, he is part of the bully’s posse, so that sucks.

74th Film Watched in 2025 - The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (2025)

I haven’t seen the original, so I can’t compare the two, but this was a great thriller! Maika Monroe and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are giving two “career best” performances, and while the story is predictable, it’s still effective.

Sometimes I think about the ButterBurger with cheese from Culver’s and thank God that I share a timeline with this delicious slice of heaven.

I’ll have a spoiler-free review for Keeper up tomorrow, but I’m begging anyone even remotely interested in this game to just play it for themselves before the internet does its thing and spoils it.

This is a special one, and I highly recommend going into it with as little knowledge as possible.

73rd Film Watched in 2025 - Raising Arizona (1987)

So much fun! A cheesy and ridiculous comedy that got several good laughs out of me. Never thought I’d be cheering on kidnappers, but the comedic tone is so sharp here that I couldn’t help but get sucked in. Nic Cage stealing Huggies is a 10/10.

72nd Film Watched in 2025 - Eraserhead (1977)

What a gift the twisted mind of David Lynch was! Feels like the kind of film you could dissect a million different ways and have every interpretation feel like the “right” answer, and I kind of love that.

Also, the baby is straight up an Apple EarPod.

71st Film Watched in 2025 - Fargo (1996)

Starting to dig into the Coen brothers films and this might actually be a perfect movie? Charmed me off my feet with its cast and dialogue, and Marge and Norm Gunderson might be one of my new favorite movie couples. Their love is so pure and wholesome 😭
