Okay, time for a real introduction…

My name is Zack and I’m a huge nerd who loves talking about video games, film, television, books, and all sorts of art/entertainment. I also run a video game review blog called Sight-In Games (link in bio).

Let me know what you’re watching/playing/reading!
Sharing this again for the night owls!

I wrote a review for Despelote and think it’s a must-play for fans of narrative driven games and sports. Also worth playing even if you don’t have any connection to sports!
Despelote is a masterclass of narrative design that uses Ecuador’s qualification for the 2002 FIFA World Cup to tell a story about childhood, community, and unity.

Here’s my review: sightingames.wordpress.com/2025/12/01/r...
Review – Despelote
A charming and uplifting game about the unifying power of sports.

Sorry for all the Christmas movie spanning over the weekend. We had a winter storm and spent the last few days staying inside watching cheesy movies 😅

THERE'S TOO MANY GAMES & NEVER ENOUGH TIME TO PLAY THEM ALL.

87th Film Watched in 2025 - A Merry Little Ex-Mas (2025)

It’s always frustrating when a talented cast just doesn’t have any chemistry with each other, which is exactly what happened here. However, it does have a male stripper putting out a Christmas tree fire with his outfit, if that’s your jam. 🤷‍♂️

86th Film Watched in 2025 - Champagne Problems (2025)

What starts as a typical Netflix Original Christmas Movie™️ eventually finds its own footing as a charming and funny little holiday romance. Perfect “let’s binge cheesy Christmas movies” vibes with this one.

85th Film Watched in 2025 - Jingle Bell Heist (2025)

A fun twist on the typical Christmas rom-com formula that sees two attractive single people set out to take down a corrupted businessman. Fun, funny, and worth a watch.

84th Film Watched in 2025 - A Very Jonas Christmas Movie (2025)

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it’s officially time for terribly cheesy Christmas movies. I’m not a Jo Bro fan and know nothing about their personal lives/music, but there’s some good laughs to be found here.

83rd Film Watched in 2025 - Paw Patrol Christmas (2025)

I got roped into this by my partner’s 3-year-old cousin, so this doesn’t technically count as my pick, but I’m logging it anyways 😅

It’s bad. Very cheesy, even by little kid show standards.

82nd Film Watched in 2025 - On Becoming a Guinea Fowl (2024)

An extremely heavy and disconcerting film about childhood abuse and how it’s so often swept under a rug and ignored when it’s perpetrated by a family member. It is a superbly crafted film, but it’s also a hard watch.

I always want to complete any game that I start, but sometimes things get in the way. Bad timing or one flaw can ruin everything.

But just because I abandoned a game doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. Here are my top 8 games I abandoned this year.

3500 words!

My Top 8 Games I Abandoned In 2025
Welcome to what looks like it will be a yearly feature for me now. Last year, I wrote about my top seven games that I abandoned. This year it’s eight. And when I compare these lists, I’…

Happy Thanksgiving!

This has been an extremely tough year for me, but getting to know so many of you on here has been a huge blessing and I’m thankful for all of the friendships I’ve made. 😊

Now if you don’t mind, I did enough socializing for today and am going to go play video games now.

I'm old.

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.

I don’t dare try to put out another review this week due to the holidays, but I played an indie game in one sitting today that was absolutely wonderful and I can’t wait to write about it next week. ⚽️

It’s not every day I get to put references to The Golden Girls and The Godfather into a review, so today has been quite enjoyable. 👵 🤵🏻‍♂️
Mafia: The Old Country has all the makings of a classic organized crime story, but it also has a few blunders that hold it back from being something truly special.

Here’s my review:

Review – Mafia: The Old Country
A classic story of power and corruption that’s a few cannoli’s short of a true Sicilian epic.

We’re just hours away from the launch of Infinity Nikki v. 2.0!

This new trailer has me so excited to explore Itzaland, and it’s cool that they got Idina Menzel to do the new theme song! This is going to be so much fun 😁

Constance is one of the most beautiful games of all time, both literally and figuratively. Its exquisite hand-drawn art style and delicate portrayal of burnout paint a masterful picture. Its crafty metroidvania backdrop serves as the perfect catalyst to elevate this indelible journey.
