PINNED INTRO POST: Hi, I'm Zander; I've been making comic books since 1993. My best known solo books are Heck, The Replacement God, and Kaijumax, and I've done art duties on such works as Top 10 and Smax. I've also done a great deal of educational graphic novels and layout assists for DC comics!
The cover of award-winning graphic novel HECK by beloved Twin Cities cartoonist Zander Cannon A Kaijumax hardcover, showing a huge ensemble of monster characters, arranged in a way that emulates old Monster movies, drawn by beloved Twin Cities cartoonist Zander Cannon A panel from the comic book Kaijumax, in which a flaming, Krampus-like goat character embraces his Kaiju friend, trying to convince him not to overdose on uranium (drawn by beloved Twin Cities cartoonist Zander Cannon) The cover of Smax the Barbarian no. 2, written by Alan Moore and drawn by Zander Cannon, that parodies the famous Frank Frazetta image in which Conan the Cimmerian stands atop a heap of fallen enemies with a sexy lady at his feet. In this version the barbarian character Jeff Smax seems extremely embarrassed about the whole thing, and Robyn Slinger appears to be mortified to be only wearing a chainmail bikini.

Lampshades on Fire by Modest Mouse. Just a perfect song.

God, me too! I really loved those couple issues that he did, and Steve Skroce really rode the line between the polish and energy of Image at the time and the tight storytelling of Alan Moore's best adventure stuff.

I'm one of the pretty-unrelated series that will have a Youngblood variant cover in November!!
imagecomics.com/press-releas...
A variant cover for Zander Cannon's Image comic SLEEP #7, in which a colorful speedster superhero -- Doc Rocket, from Youngblood -- zooms into the horror mystery series'grayscale-with-red-highlights town. Does it make any sense? No! Is it fun anyway? Yes!

It’s Sleep #4 and 5 by @zandercannon.bsky.social ! Still more questions than answers. I have got less than bupkus for Why Is Some Stuff Red? But I sure as shit noticed that sunlight through a church window is monochrome white, but artificial light at the lab is a lovely blue*. This cements my

The covers of Sleep #4 and 5. Is alt text for the sight-impaired? Then you can’t really get into a comic book, so no point describing the covers, sorry!

This is a “quiet” horror series that needs to be on more people’s pull lists.

Sleep by writer and artist Zander Cannon from Image Comics is a tense monster tale that never shows the monster.

#Sleep #5 by @zandercannon.bsky.social. Tabby continues to help Jonathan try to figure out what is the entity that possesses him. They try an experiment in the town's mine to weaken it. The cover letters spell ACIEL - which was a human turned demon and hates religion. Recommend.

I remember reading this when it came out and a) immediately recognizing Adams (he was my first must-buy comic artist too) and b) aping the style of that blue alien's teeth in my next 200 drawings.

✨Tomorrow!!✨ Sleep #5 is on the stands! With a variant cover by legendary artist @brihurtt.bsky.social (Sixth Gun, The Damned) and a regular cover by me (completing a small puzzle started on the 1st issue)! Last issue Tabby and Jon decided to put some distance between him and the town--did it work??
A smiling middle aged cartoonist (me, Zander Cannon) smiles as he holds up two versions of issue 5 of his comic book SLEEP. The A-cover for Image Comics' SLEEP, depicting a grayscale senior photo of a girl, with images of broken glass, wrecked books, and a trophy of some kind strewn about. The artist, Zander Cannon, peeks from behind the comic to make sure the photo looks right on his phone. The B-cover of Image Comics' SLEEP #5, drawn by legendary comic artist Brian Hurtt, depicting the protagonist screaming in agony and clenching his hand while a demonic hand makes the same gesture in the background. Blood seeps from his eyes, nose, and mouth. It's awesome. The interior artist, Zander Cannon, peeks from behind the comic book.

Been thinking about Alan Moore, @geneha.com, @zandercannon.bsky.social, Alex Sinclair, and Todd Klein's TOP 10 a lot recently.

No particular reason.
A panel from TOP 10 #12 by Alan Moore, Gene Ha, Zander Cannon, Alex Sinclair, and Todd Klein, in which Dust Devil says "Come on. We don't need no last big grandstand play here. That's young guy stuff. Y'know, Lomax, you had a career since the late forties, right? You had the rep, you had the dough...why risk all that, just for underage tail?"

Cartoonists can perform some grassroots action on that front, by delivering their comics two months late! (not recommended)
