I’m a writer of #horror and #supernatural #thrillers. I might or might not be a distant relative of the Brothers Grimm.

I’m a big fan of #film noir detective stories, and Lovecraftian #horror. So, I combined the two into a novella.

The Watering Hole was a #slapdash tinderbox of a place, with vermin lurking in every corner. I’m pretty sure some poor rando was being murdered with an axe in the bathroom. But the ghoulish bartender poured generous doubles of top-shelf booze. So, there’s that.

You’re awesome, OG!
It’s hard as shit writing a book and having the confidence to put said book into the world.

I read a few pages before going to sleep last night and I really like it so far. Has the feel of an old noir novel. Or an Ed Brubaker graphic novel (incredibly complimentary).

Howie’s axe-throwing helicopter technique made Stu’s oversized gourd of a head #unmissable. That blade-wielding soupy carnage was the hit of GoreFest 7.

I need to watch more Nordic Noir!
#film
Not only the first Norwegian noir but the first Norwegian film directed by a woman, Edith Carlmar’s dark, simmering psychological drama DEATH IS A CARESS (1949). Now playing in our Nordic Noir collection on the Criterion Channel

The machete-wielding psychopath’s attack on the resident of that tiny rural town was a grotesque #symphony of bodyhorror and squish.

The #weather is playing a #symphony of raindrops with an occasional thunderclap. It’s not a bad symphony but it’s been playing for days and we’d like to hear something else. It’s not that we don’t #approve of it, but even the #swallows aren’t happy.

Her voice echos off of nothing.
Words fall like glass weights from her tongue,
shattering.
Vacant, vacant—
her eyes,
her tired steps.
Holding
the sum of foolish things.

“I’m rarely #spooked by the presence of ghosts, but that wraith’s snaggle-bucked chompers were scary!”

“Why do ghosts need teeth?”

“Right? What, do they need ‘em to eat spirit steak? Creepy!”

She knew she wasn’t meant for this world when she held the hand of the willow.
She searched for her place,
wandering moons and forests,
#spooking neither shadows nor the living.
She became a trail of lone footprints
dissolving
beneath
the buried heart of the oak.

Hatchet-hands Harry was considered a bit of an #oddball by his fellow murder ghouls. He had no stomach for hacking up random citizens with his hatchet hands. He longed to be a driftwood artist.

I continued my walk
Down the road
Seemingly #clueless
I'd veered off
Towards a camp
As it was known
In Maine
Three bedrooms
With a #generous
Sleeping loft
Was more house #size
Than weekend camp
The snow drifted
All round
With one clear
Set of tracks
Not my own
I followed

The Earth tilted on its axis sideways
The sun became an #oddball
Shape and shine of a star
And I
I gasped, swallowing butterflies
The day our eyes met
For the first time

We kissed one last time
#Clueless that time
Had other plans

Shutting all windows
Closing all doors
But the road ahead
Had other plans

A road unknown
But how it swirled
& twirled as it
Had other plans

Time
Circled us back
Tho’ we had—had other plans
