Learning to cook wasn’t difficult. I loved spending weekends with Mom-Mom and her housekeeper. Both of them were excellent cooks unlike my mother whose talent was overcooking everything. When my father said I was a better cook than Mom, I was embarrassed and kept quiet.

May jerked her head at Derek, who looked like a statue. “He started it.” “Oh, I know,” Kirk muttered. “I was just defending myself.” “I saw.” He turned to scowl at Derek, his glasses jingling where they dangled around his fluffy neck. “Were you going to kill her?” Derek tilted his head. His fur stuck up every which way, streaked with blood, glimmering with glass. “Maybe.” He prodded a book, the cover all bent out of shape, then looked around the room, taking in the disarray. “I need to know if Nick is okay.” He sounded defeated. “Join the fucking club,” Kirk said and snapped at Derek’s face.

Everything hurt, and the best description of the pain was probably “hurt like hell.” Wasn’t the first time, wouldn’t be the last time. Mana drain sucked, and berserk always sent the body into chaos before we even factored the current mana drain going on. Opening my eyes, I saw torches illuminating the stone walls they were mounted on. I briefly wondered if Asuza bothered to relight the things or if he used a recast loop spell to keep them perma-lit. Also, how often was this room used, anyway? Was this the same place that Leah and Chloé died? I had no idea and doubted they’d be much for conversation once they woke up.

“Told you!” Lucas took an equally large bite of his Italian sub. “I’ve never tried the meatballs before, but anything I’ve gotten here is usually good.” Aiden turned his sandwich towards Lucas, “You wanna try?” “Nah, that’s ok.” “What, my balls aren’t good enough for you?” Aiden smirked. Lucas blushed, “Hey now, I never said that.” He put his sandwich down. “Okay fine, gimme a taste of your balls.” Lucas grabbed a hold of Aiden’s sandwich, their hands overlapping and transferring a large, greasy smear of marinara in the process. “Your balls are fuckin’ messy,” Lucas said, his mouth full. The word "messy" is highlighted in green.

Maybe at some point in the past it had been someone’s second home, kept for the ski season. The lot next to it was empty and level, which was something of a relief. This combined the benefit of fewer neighborly complaints with the convenience of a parking lot. JB had the feeling they’d need all the help they could get for this one. Charlie was waiting for him at the front door. “Hey. Um, thanks for this, man.” “Don’t mention it,” said JB as he came up the steps. “What’ve you got done so far?” “Well, er, I picked up around the living room a lot. Just us guys here, so it was pretty messy. And I got the sound system working. Downloading a bunch of music now.” Charlie led him around the house. “Like you said, I moved all the living room furniture to the sides and relocated the rugs. Obvious breakables went in my room.”

They were carefully pressure flaked along both sides to get a perfect edge… You can see the beautiful wave pattern here…” He picked up a printout from a nearby pile after a moment of disorganized searching, then pointed and leaned towards her, getting too close. “…but the other side…” “It looks damaged. Where’s the pattern on that side?” Talia pointed out, leaning away and causing the leather of her jacket to squeak against the leather of the sofa.
