While I understand the BBC’s imperative to provide balance in stories, at times it can feel completely ludicrous. Data vs one person’s entirely anecdotal opinion isn’t balance.

KASIE HUNT: Over the summer you said, “There’s no vaccine that’s safe and effective”. Do you still believe that?

RFK JR: “I never said that.”

Unfortunately, we can’t trust the council to deliver alternative, high-quality, cycle lanes in a timely manner. Neither on-road, nor along the Roseburn path

bsky.app/profile/blac...
People might be more prepared to accept the tram going down the Roseburn path if the council could be trusted to deliver high-quality, alternative cycle/walking routes, and in a timely manner (& before any construction starts)

But they can’t…

Today, the Government launches plans to fast-track driverless vehicle trials in the UK.

One of the companies involved says London presents a big challenge:

“It has seven times more jaywalkers than San Francisco.”

Except… it doesn't. 🧵

It's weird to admit this, but Hochul is setting an example for how to take on Trump: Tell him, in not so many words and with lots of evidence, to go fuck himself.

"Removing improper ideology" doesn't sound at all Soviet or Orwellian.

It's exactly the sort of thing a country with "a history of liberty" (as this EO says elsewhere) would do to celebrate the freedoms that have made it great.

@policescotland.bsky.social can we change the language around this?

There was a driver involved!

The driver is automatically at fault because they did not remain at the scene. Please say so!

No, I don't need a bloody copilot for this document, thank you.

Writing is, in no small part, a tool for thinking. If you outsource that element to a machine that cannot think, you shouldn't be surprised if, at the end of the process, neither you nor your reader are any the wiser.

I was today years old when I learned that road traffic collisions alone (~£36bn) cost the UK economy more than the combined revenue of fuel duty & VED (~£35bn).

While cycling yesterday I was mulling over that question "why are cyclists so angry?".

Here is a thought experiment.

Imagine every few times you walk out of the front door of your house somebody jumps out and screams "F*CKING C*NT" at you and swings a baseball bat at your head.
