Was finally inspired by ANDOR to write this! Academic essay "proving" that the common belief that Palpatine was manipulating both sides of the Clone Wars is a later piece of Rebel propaganda designed to help reconcile Separatists and Republicans.

Another book review, this time of a new series! These are some really fun detective novels that also include kaiju, they feel like classic Sherlock Holmes stories and also like nothing else I've read, and their themes are very appropriate for the times we live in now.

The problem with questioning birthright citizenship in the US context should not be looked at with its economic peers, but its geographic. There’s a historical reason it exists and it underpins the entire state organization in the Western Hemisphere. There exceptions in the WH also tie into that:

okay folks, “government name” doesn’t mean “work for the government.” it is a slang term meaning “your full name”

It's frustrating locally, because if you try to have a serious interview with any Republican anywhere, you'd be shut out of any interviews ever again, basically ending your career. So we get softball. #arpx

I'd simply not have a polite professional interview with this fucking fascist psychopath, if I were the host of a "news" show.

If trump said the text of the 14th amendment was “potato farts” the conservative legal movement would find twenty guys to invent an explanation of how potato farts are central to the original meaning of the 14th amendment

^^^ This right here. They want to be right, they dont want to be questioned, so they have constructed a theory of law which allows them to amend the constitution at-will(through SC edicts), and a political philosophy which justifies it by holding the rest of humanity inferior.

again, it is just arrogance. “there is one true meaning of the constitution and it can only be derived by a special caste of lawyers with a special interpretative lens and once discovered it is binding.”

so much of the conservative legal revolution seems to outright reject the idea that democratic publics legitimately constituted can fix the meaning of the constitution without formal amendment.

the president is not an elected sovereign. he does not speak for the people or embody their will, he merely represents them. if he wants to change the constitution, let him make his case.

the idea that a handful of conservative legal scholars have an understanding that should supersede a settlement affirmed my generations of american is astoundingly arrogant, and the idea that trump — or any president — can unilaterally overturn that settlement is just despotism
