Also. 'Behavior' is obv a very common tag line, but perhaps overly used and not always fitting, as you point out. ‘Evo, Cult, and the Mind’ might work better as a tripartite main title with subtitle. Excited for this to come out!

This is very good. But by not including 'social' does it open ambiguity? No paleo? No genetics? No disease ecology? No microbiome? not sure...

I agree! I'm not against having the 'mind' in the title. I quite like it, actually. But I'd say 'behaviour' is probably more important for a title than mind...Perhaps something like, Culture, Mind, and Behavouir: An intro to human evolutionary social science..or something.

Say you were looking for a free, online textbook to use in your teaching of #EvoPSych, Human Behavioural Ecology, Cultural Evolution (or all combined)... which of these titles would tempt you most?

2 > 1 >> 3 >>> 4. I like 3, but the four nouns seem like one too many. Perhaps, if you dropped 'mind' I would prefer 3=2.

Ahh...the png from the article doesn't cross-post well. Here's the figure from the manuscript (zhgarfield.github.io/files/garfie...) :
Figure from cross-cultural coding from ethnographic data showing the percentage of societies supporting six features of reputation: Cultural group unity (about 80% of societies), Social & material success (about 60%), Neural capital (about 60%), Dominance (about 50%), Supernatural healing (about 45%) and Sexuality (about 23%). Caption from manuscript: Percentage of cultures providing evidence for reputation features (95% CI estimated via cluster bootstrap).

It's very personal: my story of a 20-year academic career, and the many challenges of theoretical and cross-disciplinary work

As I put it in the subtitle: There is a lot of success and a lot of pain here, and no happy ending

It's happening! And HBES will directly follow and overlap with CES, including a joint plenary to unite these two stellar scientific communities...don't we all love economies of scale.
