and to the degree that material conditions are creating grievances, that's the case all across Canada and the unique ones in the case of Western alienation are largely imagined, and most of the real ones are rooted in provincial governance and things beyond government control, not the federal gov

yeah, as someone who grew up in rural Saskatchewan, from my own experiences the majority of those who support Western separatism are dyed-in-the-wool reactionaries whose beliefs are not based on legitimate grievances derived from material conditions, and I'm not overly sympathetic tbh

not entirely sure, it would certainly win people toward the centre, but as someone from rural SK and judging from some of my family members, I don't know if the base would have went along with it
