I think it is worthy of mention that to accept a pardon for a crime is to admit guilt of that crime. Baked into the nature of saying 'I accept your pardon' is to say 'I require your pardon for the things that I did'.

Frogs, in controvention to the famous apocrypha about them, will leave a bath that heats on its way to boiling.

So, and idea that I haven't seen put this exact way is: why do a lot of modern conservative movements focus so much on raw resource extraction?
There is of course financial value to it. But in an era where "we should be very careful not to break things further" is the mot de jour, it's interesting

I recently started a new position in the middle of a reassessment. The current strategy seems to be "the assessors have a lot to do and never look too closely."
I want to take a goof book about survivorship bias and risk management and feed it to someone. Any recommendations?

"Systems are designed to produce consistent results, not necessarily good ones" should be written large across any place where the public interacts with systems.

I can't really say what allowed me not to go down this doomer redpill path, a close relationship with my mother was definitely a huge privilege I feel. on the whole it seems like many of these men have had other conservative men rule their mind from birth, and it sounds utterly fucking miserable.

What if space alien invasions, but with flimsy political motivations?
For example, a terrifying squid alien leader sends swarms to Earth to reclaim the environment... or so they say, but the actual reason is to win points in election polls from squids who think that's rad.
