Trump Threatens To Dock Controllers

5m

President Donald Trump threatened to dock pay and punish air-traffic controllers who didn’t return to work amid the government shutdown, urging immediate resumption as thousands of U.S. flights were canceled.

Democrats were overwhelmingly united on their shutdown demands.

Americans understood that Trump and Republicans were to blame.

Voters made it known last Tuesday that they'll elect leaders who stand up to Trump.

Democrats held the cards — and folded for no reason.

I’m not a conspiracy person but it is an odd combination of Democratic Senators caving: mainly people retiring or not up for re-election until 2028. Moreover, Democratic leadership seems to accept them breaking rank without any consequences or even serious critique… 🙄

Tonight’s Senate vote on the federal government shutdown should have been a time for strength.

Instead we saw capitulation and a betrayal of working Americans.

The American people need more from their leaders.

I don’t like the Senate deal to reopen the government, but I am happy we can limit the suffering of 1.3 million federal workers who have now gone one month without pay. That is cruel and unnecessary. open.substack.com/pub/democrac...
What the Shutdown Means for Government Employees…and All of US
The longest shutdown in U.S. history has punished those who serve the public. It’s time to honor federal workers and remember that public service—not cruelty—sustains our democracy.

🚨 The shutdown isn’t over. The Senate vote was a procedural step, not a deal. Nothing is reopening. Nothing is fixed. Eight Democrats helped move an old GOP bill while families go unpaid and SNAP stays frozen.

Flood the lines. Call your Senators.

FWIW a lot of people are now taking on the Trump position that the Tuesday elections were about the shutdown specifically, as opposed to a more general repudiation of Trump. I'm skeptical.
