I started on a map yesterday: Fél'ihír. I'm doing it 100% in colored pencil on a medium gray paper. I used the "drop rice on a page" method for roughing out the basic continent shape.

Also, I found a setting on my scanner that improves its results.

The beginnings of a Fantasy Style map on a medium gray paper. So far the map border, the title box, compass rose, landmass borders, mountains, rivers, inland seas, city markers, and islands are present. A bit of the ocean has been sketched around most of the continent in light blue. The border, compass rose and title box are a faux metallic-gold style with brownish/coppery parts. Also, unfortunately visible are some oily finger smudges due to errors in handling.
