Over 7,000 minutes of #Haydn this year putting me in the 0.01% of global Haydn fans. What a lark! Ridiculous really - and that's down to #A-Haydn-A-Day (which I still adhere to).

The Day Rococo Died: Oaths, Massacres, and String Quartets in an Age of Reason
Enlightenment classicism is often described as a “return to antiquity,” but what really binds Jacques-Louis David, Antonio Canova, Haydn, and Mozart is not marble togas or Latin titles.

Finished watching (with a couple of breaks inbetween) Mickey 17 & can highly recommend taking a day or without rolling news or print media & then watching this.
Bong Joon Ho vying with Jordan Peele for favourite contemporary filmmaker.
😔Hadn't known Haydn Gwynne had died until honoured in credits 🙁

Highlights this Veteran's Day @WETAClassical include Chopin for Classical Sunrise 6:47am, a charming violin concerto by Haydn 7:00am and an 18th century viola concerto 7:36am, plus Scriabin's late-Romantic piano concerto 9:17am (contemporary of Rachmaninoff). And you, I hope.

Started the day with a bit of Haydn conducted by Mackerras. It is a shame Telarc didn't get him to record more than the three discs of symphonies with Orchestra of St. Lukes.

just found this the other day as our little pup dog came out of a weekend of seizures ( she's had them in the past ) after surgery.

She's now a Mozart loving dog. She hops up in my lap to listen!
My favorite part of the study is where they use Haydn as the control, cracks me up.

At least a couple of them would be on the list whatever day you asked but here's the list for today, with the other choices most likely inspired by the fact that I've been revisiting them a lot recently:

Sibelius 6
Brahms 2
Schumann 3
Haydn 26
Szymanowski 3
Holmboe 10
Dvorak 8
Beethoven 4

Today's random World Book entry of the day: a short article on Haydn.

I know who Haydn is and some of his works, but didn't know a ton about him, like that he was a close friend of Mozart. He also met a young Beethoven and had him as a pupil. The music world was very connected then apparently.
