For #BirdoftheDay, today's theme is raptor and alternative #Anatidae (geese, swans and ducks). I don't visit zoos often but this Australian blue-billed duck at the Jacksonville Zoo proved a compelling composition on a very dreary day.

Rob’s theme for #BirdOfTheDay is #LongBeaks and I think these black-tailed godwits are just the ticket! 🪶

Time for a #painting. "Stone Walls, No Sheep III" was the 3rd in a series of 4 paintings that came out of loving landscapes especially those with stone walls and those with sheep but accepting that sometimes the sheep just aren't there. #art #Speirghorm #ArtAdventCalendar

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #LongBeaks, any bird with a Long Beak. Bathed in warm, low light, this Black-tailed Godwit wades through shallow water, its long, straight beak perfectly adapted for probing the mud in search of food.

One from the archive this week. It looks like a B&W picture but the photo was actually taken in glorious technicolour. It was just that kind of day.

Theme for today's #BirdOfTheday set by Alan H @alan678.bsky.social is #Solitude. Here's a heron that picked a spot where it absolutely knew it would have all the solitude it wanted and nothing was going to disturb it! #Birds 🪶🦉 #Photography #Nikon @wolct.bsky.social
