Our picture shows a dramatic sky at sunset just outside my house here in Ireland. Most of the image is filled with deep shades of blue, fading from a very dark navy at the top to a brighter, clearer blue as the eye moves downward. Near the horizon, warm golden light spreads outward, with the sun is just behind a layer of clouds. A band of thick clouds sits low in the sky, glowing in rich yellows and soft golds where the sunlight hits them. The light appears strongest at the centre, creating a gentle halo effect that radiates upward into the blue sky. A few small, isolated white clouds float higher above, standing out sharply against the darker blue background. It was a stunday for me today. A fire broke out on my favorite mountain this morning. Fortunately it was very small and was out quickly, but it did happen to burn my favorite landmark.

Graded dirt is in the foreground. The Park Rangers had cleared this part of the trail and piled dead vegetation off to the side of the trail, which includes the forked branch. There is a steep hill beyond the debris. Main trailhead trail on Cerro San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo, California Same location as the previous photo with graded dirt in the foreground. The forked branch and other vegetation debris has burned and no longer there. A fireman is located at approximately the same location as the forked branch. They were still mopping up to make sure the fire was completely out. Cerro San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo, California This is my favorite black and white image from this location. The forked branch is dark and pitted against a cloudy/foggy sky, so it's a dramatic and foreboding look. The fog is rolling over the hills in the background. All the dead vegetation is also in the foreground, but it's dark, so it's not very distinguishable. Cerro San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo, California

A European Robin stands on sticky legs at the edge of a low mossy wall by a garden border of emerging green spring bulbs. A poem about my nemesis wheat then a description of the photograph. A field of green, so tall and grand, A silent threat across the land. For in each kernel, gold and light, A hidden challenge, day and night. The baker's art, a tempting smell, A simple grain that breaks the spell. No comfort found in staff of life, Just whispered worries, bitter strife. A single crumb, a hidden trace, Sets off a swift, unwelcome race. A tricky foe, in form so small, Whose presence can undo it all. A low-angle perspective plunges the viewer into the heart of a dense, vibrant corn field, where lush, green foliage dominates the foreground. The leaves, in various shades of green—from bright lime where the sun's light catches them, to deep emerald in the shadows—splay outwards, creating intricate layers and textures. Each leaf is sharply detailed, their veins, and slightly curled edges adding depth to the scene. The composition is vertical, with tall stalks reaching upwards, topped with feathery, light brown tassels. The lighting is dramatic; bright light illuminates the front-most leaves, making them pop against darker elements. The upper half of the photograph is consumed by a turbulent, awe-inspiring sky. A mass of dark, brooding storm clouds fills the frame with deep blues, slate greys, and bruised purples.
