Today is for #oddcouples and I found a fitting one on #RathlinIsland last year. A Lesser(?) Black-backed Gull (Larus fuscus) trying to steal away a Common Guillemot (Uria aalge), while the rest of them just looks on. Enjoy!

3 of these feature one of my all time faves the Grey Heron. Crows, Cormorant, Kestrel, and Flamingos all make an appearance.

#BirdOfTheDay theme alt is #Urban , birds in an urban environment. The Northern Flicker, is a bit timid, but familiar sight in residential areas. A happy visitor at suet feeders or patrolling lawns in search of ant larvae, or under eaves for cocoons.
A woodpecker type bird, clings to a red brick façade under metal eaves. A grey beak, red moustache, grey head with a blush of brown around a shiny black eye. The breast feathers, light brown, are heavily spotted. The back is a dark brown with black horizontal dashes.
