Aha! I found the correct department(s) and emailed them with details and a couple of suggestions. Fingers crossed that they’re interested in improving sidewalk/road safety and are willing to chat about this.

Sorry, don’t think the first tag worked?Still figuring out this platform.

Great piece Brian! Captures something I've been trying to articulate here recently. Urbanist ideas that don't prioritize people who are struggling in our cities can't work, because our cities can't work without them.

Chicago urbanism folks, we have to swing this poll towards sanity. A 25 mph city-wide speed limit will be much safer for those who walk, cycle, and drive. The City Council will be voting on this later this week, and this is a good way to show support:

City council could vote on 25mph speed limit
It's worked in other big cities.

New feature! Comment with #AddUrbanism+ and your post should make the feed!

This is different than adding one of the feeds regular hashtags to a comment, which adds a comment to the feed, this new #AddUrbanism+ tag in the only tag that wont add the comment, only an original post.

Also learned that the viaduc I mentioned had to go through extensive repairs in 2009, as it's now 122 years old.
Those repairs had the complications of the UNESCO status of the birdge and the constraint of never interrupting rail service.
The whole 8 months affair only cost 4.6M CHF 🤯
