I see that some names have been redacted out; must be the Akkadian version of an Epstein file

We're not moots, so feel free to delete this, but when I was recovering from my years-long burnout, it helped me to make things that were inconsequential, but that I could finish. Magic circles were my thing, they are very cool but basically just fun shapes, not any kind of expectation.

#USA disputed as fallen #empire. Math don’t math. Massive gov. services cuts & debt rises. Debt higher than WWII. No investments in education, basic research & infrastructure which grows economy. Oligarchs kill innovation. Brain drain. Devalued currency. And more..

A few ideas I considered:

-Bine (Fake Akkadian demon whose lore mistakenly referred to Christianity)

-Sky Fish (Supposed cryptids found in photos that move at lightspeed)

‐Okiku (Japanese doll said to grow human hair)

-Ostanes (Persian pen-name used by various ancient alchemists and magi)

Syr (& other Aram) /mallåḥå/ (> Arb /mallāḥ/) is not a derivative of the "salt" root √mlḥ, but a Sumerian > Akkadian loanword, i.e. Sum /malah/ (/ma/ "ship", /lah/ "bring") > Akk /malāḫu/.

But "Lambdacism" is not the correct word to refer a type of variation involving /l/ & /r/ in the Akkadian dialect.

Yep! Even though Enheduanna was an Akkadian princess, the works attributed to her were written in Sumerian. I recommend reading through @sophushelle.bsky.social's essays in his 2023 translation for more information:

For folks who are keen to learn it beyond cursory exploration, most start with John Huehnergard's Grammar of Akkadian but there are an increasing number of Sumerian grammars out now, like @digital-hammurabi.bsky.social's Sumerian books:

The Early Dynastic period (c. 2900–2350 BCE) saw Sumerian city-states develop writing, urbanization, and independent governments before Akkadian conquest.

Oof, this isn't quite an accurate description of how Gaza is written in Amarna Akkadian, and the name--which is probably West Semitic-- appears in Egyptian before it shows up in Amarna.

Slower tempo to the painting at present, but have managed another unit for my Akkadian/Sumerian army - another unit of the militia spearmen.

15/18mm 3d prints from files by Uppsala Miniatures.

One more unit and generals and I'll be able to actually get them on table 😀
