🔭As I mentioned somewhere in this thread, I work on the Astronomical League’s quarterly “Reflector” magazine, and we publish a bunch of astrophography. Here’s the latest issue (free pdf link).

🔭Saw an image on bsky but not in the Astro feed, processed w/ an “AI” plugin to Pixinsight called BlurXTerminator. Publisher claims it doesn’t “invent” detail, & implies that this is “real” deconvolution. I find that hard to believe. Anyone more expert want to weigh in on this? (pls read alt text)

SH2-174, an ancient planetary nebula 980ly distant in Cephus, taken in HOO with RGB stars, from Bortle 8 skies (my backyard). These objects are created as a Sun-like star dyes and blows off its outer layers, while the core collapses into a white dwarf.

It's Alnitak season! Here is a start for the Horsehead and Flame Nebulae that surround the bottom bright star of Orion's belt. This is 54x300s (4.5h) with a dual narrowband filter. I like the contrast and detail of the nebula regions, need to work on star reduction and internal reflections.
