Most of the time it'd be considered trespassing, but when the drive home was right next to a harvest well underway near Canowindra, I couldn't help but head up the driveway and ask to take some pics with Fraser and Oliver Wythes.

🏘️'Tis the season for bush block stories 🎶

The annual bargain block list has arrived, with some genuinely decent spots on the market this year. Sadly, I did have to push the list up from $50k to $75k because, well, house prices 🤷‍♀️

"The reduction in SAR [Sodium Adsorption Ratio] is primarily due to the biochar’s ion exchange capacity, where it adsorbs sodium ions while releasing beneficial calcium and magnesium ions."
This characteristic is very significant where available water is saline.

Result?
Faster breeding of tougher varieties + smarter in-crop decisions = higher yields, less spray, lower risk.
Farmers: “Great if the data actually helps on real farms.”
Breeders: “This could boost genetic gain 30–50 %.”
Skeptics: “Still need rain and good germplasm.”

That so much locally grown rice in Aus is exported, while the local market is catered for by another countries exports - that got me.
That Aussie rice is lower #methane than many other countries but that had never been acknowledged or celebrated. 🧐
