Just finished an incredible fantasy novel by N.K. Jemisin. Her storytelling is masterful, but what truly amazed me was how seamlessly she braided multiple timelines—one of the best examples I’ve ever read.

I love to write and explore stories that imagine a world where Black people and all oppressed people are free to be our best selves. My forthcoming books are explorations of Black Utopia. Follow me as I bring these visions to life.

eg, looking at Darby's Realistic Blacktopia, it is impossible for me to shake the frame. brings out how civility, so conceived, is not a tool for defending inequality, but can be vital for equality. all the while we can register silencing thru rules and oppressive norms of "etiquette," eg J Crow.

pretty good post on William Julius Wilson from Yglesias this morning, if not fair to Kendi or Arendt’s pt about identity in defense. reminds me i must make time for D Darby’s Realistic Blacktopia, which i’m confident escapes that trap.
