dynamics are overrated

oh god yeah the anniversary editions are still all brickwalled to shit. I have to imagine they somehow did this in the recording/early mixing process to where it can't be remastered out

it's so painful

I always wondered how some of these early digital brickwalled CD’s would translate to vinyl. I’m going to assume it was remastered for vinyl or the needle would bounce out of the grooves.. which should make it sound better

In some important ways I am already in my thirties (finally downloading vinyl rips for Dylan's MODERN TIMES, TOGETHER THROUGH LIFE, and TEMPEST because they aren't brickwalled like the CDs)

might be similar to commercials: the reason they sound loud despite this being theoretically illegal (47 USC 621) is because the standard is based on average loudness. So commercials are super "brickwalled" but under the average, while actual TV shows have more dynamic range and actual quiet moments

music production is when you brickwall everything in the mix and the more brickwalled it is the more musical it is 😹

Almost got brickwalled by Dante encounter #2, legit felt like I was getting mogged by another player with how much it felt like his AI was prediciting my every move, but we somehow did it (itemless as well!).

Lies of P fucking SUCKS*

*this post made by someone who fucking loves the game but is brickwalled at the final boss and mad about it

i've brickwalled this midi man, there's so much fucking synth brass and i've not even BEGUN to start!
finally broken ground on the midi file for this!
wall of sound meets anglo prog meets 80s new wave over the top production counds as a predatory intimidation tactic right?
how many layers of synth brass does it take to emotionally overwealm a prey?
we draw closer to christmas and i still havent recorded that ominously threatening implied vore version of All I Want For Christmas Is You that i kept thinking about making last december.
there's always next winter

I just quit a while back because I was tired of ads being 2X as loud as the music (and fuck premium).

Nothing more unpleasant than having brickwalled thrash metal at reasonable volume suddenly turn into Kevin Hart trying to sell me a capital one card at genuinely hearing damaging volume.

Case in point, Journey's 1983 album "Frontiers." While the 2006 version that's on the streaming services sounds enticing, especially since it has four bonus tracks, it's brickwalled to absolute smithereens. I feel the original '80s CD is better to my ears. However...

Sometimes there are some weaknesses (ex. the original CD of Zeppelin IV has some tape dropouts on some songs, notably "Rock and Roll," and they can come from later-generation tapes, especially the super early CDs), but they're not brickwalled to death like the modern versions are.

It's hard to get anything into the inner circle when most attempts are brickwalled.

someone who describes an album as “brickwalled” has never known a lover’s touch btw

I think I have this ep. It’s incredibly brickwalled and aggro as hell.

mass undergoe is amazing & i need to actually find a copy of their album because i don't think its brickwalled to clipping shit like the youtube uploads.

What an amazing band.

Honestly, the production on Miranda Lambert's debut album wasn't that bad by Frank Liddell standards. It's really only the St. Anger-esque snare on "Kerosene" that gets me.

How did Frank get a thousand times worse on his later projects? Everything he's touched since 2006 is brickwalled to shit.

Also Christ if the waveform for "Back To School" was any more brickwalled. You can tell this was released during the Loudness Wars

Thoughts on the An Abstract Illusion album, two things

1) It's good
2) The master is brickwalled to hell and I'm angry about it

And as lovely as it is to hear her, this one has very modern-day brickwalled mastering. Her 2005 album, Still Together, had lovely old-school mastering with softs and louds and everything in between. Dynamics! The difference in terms of ear fatigue is extraordinary.

god damn it its practically brickwalled

To do a DNA test that will give you actual ancestors, you'll need to do a Big M test. That goes mother of mother of mother, etc. You'll need a male relative to do the Big Y, father of father of father, etc. But unless you are hopelessly brickwalled, the paper trail Wikitree provides us good

The difference between getting brickwalled in an argument with a leftist vs a right winger is leftists won't change their mind because they're already correct, and right wingers won't change their mind because they're too stupid or cruel to acknowledge the truth.

Yeah the Soren stuff basically became its Own Thing and I was sad to see it end so soon. Apart from the dogshit brickwalled mastering, When Death Comes is my 3rd favorite album from them.

BACK is super underrated though, it's such an interesting blend of the first three albums
