Carlos Alcaraz defeats Alexander Zverev 6-4, 7-6, 6-7, 6-7, 7-5 in one of the longest matches in Australian Open history.
A riveting match, with Alcaraz cramping up in the third set, it looked as if he would have to retire.

Wearing lime green for a month as promised.

An epic featuring Alcaraz cramping after leading to sets to none, Carlos wins in 5 sets over Zverev to reach the final

Like she said.
I generally won't watch Zverev, unless I tune in to watch him lose. This one was worth it.

Was not the best tennis match I've ever seen but some truly remarkable points and just incredibly inspiring effort from Alcaraz to do that while cramping. And Zverez is a bit of a choker, yeah.

New conspiracy theory: Craig Tiley told Carlos to increase the semifinal engagement at least a little bit, he's not actually cramping. Sudden recovery and comeback 4-5 0-40* down to win, incoming

5 hours, one guy cramping physically, one guy cramping mentally, and somehow the tennis is better than it was in the first set

Zverev to supervisor while Carlos Alcaraz received a medical timeout while cramping after the changeover was done

"He has cramps. This is absolute bullshit. That is unbelieveable. You can not be serious. You protect the both of them. Its unbeliveable"

seriously, if it weren't for that cramping out of nowhere, this match would've long been over, 3-0 clean slate. Extremely unlucky in so many ways

So Alcaraz was 2 sets up and is cramping in both thighs now and now it’s 2-2?

We getting Djokovic-Zverev aren’t we 😭

Malika Andrews so succinctly and adeptly addressed the cramping situation as it pertains to the rules and how it played out

Also prefaced by saying "we are not doctors"

Excellent work

I'm surprised to learn that this rendition apparently got attention for being one of the few film adaptations to feature the "second generation" (to much cramping in execution).

I'm curious if some filmmaker will attempt to adapt the second generation through a non-whitewashed Heathcliff.
I really do love the hair in the WUTHERING HEIGHTS starring Ralph Fiennes.

Zverev is barely holding on against a severely cramping and vomiting opponent. I don’t even like him but gd. If there’s a time to lock in, it’s now.

Only score watching today. Saw that it was TB in the third and thought Carlos would wrap it up. And then the next thing I see is he’s cramping and it’s the middle of the 4th

Anywhoo I still think he takes it here

I was going to watch the Pitt but I can't stop watching to see if Alcaraz can survive all this cramping and now puking or is he going to blow a two set lead or blow chunks all over the court. This match has had everything
January 30, 2026 at 7:45 AM
He’s always winging, bore off. He needs to be focusing on why he’s still struggling against a cramping Alcaraz
January 30, 2026 at 7:36 AM
I just woke up to this match still going and all this drama. People are even saying that if Ferrero were in the box he would not be cramping. Guys he lost in Cinci and RG with Ferrero in the box because of cramps. 🙄
