Banning guns isn't going to solve the problem. The gun nuts will simply hide their stash from inspectors/enforcers. Requiring gun owners to have permits and not own anything more heavy calibre than a pistol (or hunting rifle) might go some way to solve the problem. That or make bullets expensive.
