ok, I'll bite - I've never been to the Moda Center, but it looks like a nice, big building in the eastbank skyline.

Are they expanding the size of regulation basketball courts? Why does it need so much dollars?

I don't think I'll make any new friends who want to live in denial. We're going to need to build and maintain our own systems of support to have any quality of life for the next several generations (which may be the whole ballgame as the way this climate's going.) I demand you think about it

We said goodbye to one of our amazing Eastbank superstars this week….. Our fabulous dinner lady Susan starts her very well deserved retirement.. we wish her all the best!

It is legitimately one of the most batshit things I have ever seen in my life.

On the upside, there’s a nice ferry between Eastbank and Westbank and also the streetcar really is charming.

So i tried again and I think that it's safe to say that that stupid gate to eastbank isn't open this hour. lol. this time i tried cutting through downtown instead of naito and got a little lost, crossing some other smaller bridge and popping out by providence park. I made it back. I am home now. lol

🙃oh. eastbank esplanade doesn't have 'closed' hours, they were probably doing maintenance or something. Portland was just portlanding. ugh. Shall I try again tomorrow? Maybe.

I used to riding up willamette, I hope whatever PBOT does will be better than it is now, but I’m not holding by breath. And yes to needing more space. Even the eastbank esplanade should be wider (when do we get our rose quarter expansion project is my question!).

Please spend a moment to fill this survey about Waterfront Park out

I suggest that you fill every field out with "put in a playground, concession carts, and RIP OUT I5 along the eastbank".

Thrilling to see the vision of @london.gov.uk & @justinesimons.bsky.social for #EastBank coming to life so brilliantly
2025 was an amazing year for East Bank and there's more to see in 2026 ⤵️

The brand-new V&A East Museum opens in April 2026 with an exhibition celebrating Black British music.

Another major milestone for London’s newest world-class cultural quarter.

Portland! Are you free at 6 PM? Come scream good riddance to 2025!

(The screaming will occur at "the Eastbank Esplanade between the North OMSI lot and the Hawthorne Bridge (at Clay)").

g) the idea of keeping connections to I-84 while disconnecting the eastbank section of I-5 is really intriguing. I've seen people talk about it but hadn't really thought about what it would mean. The land drawn in the picture being developed plus some strategic sound-walls could really make a

I feel like anyone who’s spent any time at Tom McCall Waterfront Park or the Eastbank Esplanade
should find demolishing I-5 as well as the Marquam Bridge to be pretty reasonable.

A further benefit of taking this approach is that it significantly reduces the cost and complexity of intermediate-term projects beyond the Rose Quarter. Making the eastbank freeway a modern, reliable north-south route will require multiple multi-billion dollar projects.

I'm very glad to see that someone else (many, judging by the comments!) shares this sentiment. Maybe it's unsurprising given how absolutely *rancid* I-5 on the eastbank is.

I really deeply hope that I live to see it come down. Hopefully I won't be *that* old

But, but, but - the Eastbank Esplanade!
December 11, 2025 at 9:41 PM
The eastbank esplanade is the perfect bike ride until you realize you gotten stop your convo with your biking partner til you’re out from under I-5. Deafeningly loud.
Look at the central city riverfront of Portland. It's just so shocking and embarrassing that we tolerate this.

We can claim this mantel in 2040 if City Council takes some bold action rn

By 2040 we can
•Rip Out I5 along the Eastbank
•Build the central city tunnel
•Get buses out of traffic
•See the fruits of Inner Eastside for All
•See the fruits that come from eliminating the height limit in downtown
