I'm hardly the first person to note this, but it's enormously instructive that our President and his followers saw the message "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE" and understood it, correctly, as an attack on them
What a moment.

This seems like a good time to point out: I've reactivated my Patreon, and I'm using it as a FREE newsletter! You have to sign up for the Free tier to get most updates, but you can view them online or in email. I recently posted a three-part series about a project idea I had in December! Sign up! 😊

1) open patreon for free
2) create free, and only, tier
3) write newsletter to patreon subscribers
4) publish to patreon, service pushes patreon/newsletter post to subscribers emails
5) repeat as necessary
6) there is no 6, stop using substack
wait wait wait wait
hold on
hold the fricken phone
hold yer horses
wait

you're telling me
that making a creator account on patreon is still free, and you can make all of your posts free (if you want)
and theres no subscriber limit

and people are *still* moving to substack??

Good morning. The President of the United States was in the middle of the most serious child sex trafficking ring of the last quarter century.

He is referenced not a dozen times in the case files. Not 100 times. Not 1,000 times. He’s referenced 38,000 times.

there's so much disrespect of romance writers and romance readers baked into the idea that AI-driven production of novels is 'better'. as if writing romance isn't skillful, hard and joyous work. as if romance readers aren't discerning, loyal and savvy.

Cerebral, beautiful, funny and weird. Paced almost more like a novel than a traditional film. Loved it.

A couple screens down, they were showing the Super Bowl. Also not paced like a traditional film.

The person who really convinced me was Steve Almond, who LOVED football, & 11 years ago wound up writing a book about why we should all stop watching

Bottom line: "Consuming as a form of entertainment a game that causes human beings to suffer brain damage is wrong."

Why you should stop watching football - The Boston Globe
Even for casual fans, the evidence about the destructive forces of the game have become too clear to ignore.
