There is absolutely NO WAY someone in my #editinghell division has edited 793,922 words THIS MONTH... particularly when I can barely make my quota of 30k words. You'd have to edit an average of 26k words PER DAY and NO ONE is that fast.

And one important caveat: shit science research is mostly published in shit journals that no-one reads. Occasional clunker gets through, but peer review and journal reputation are generally effective screens against bad science.
Also, 30,000 fake papers out of 1 million+ does not indict or threaten science as a whole. This entire "science is in crisis from within" narrative is a right-wing myth.
