The first known Soviet transfer of dollars to a European bank was from BCEN, which boasted the cable address EUROBANK. This was probably the first time the term “euro” was used in financial markets, and eventually all dollar accounts outside the US became known as “eurodollars”.

Isn't the Dollar losing right now because of high debt and sideways going economy? Not Exactly to different from some Euromarkets at least.

I also think a lot about times in history when too much cash showed up at once without a good idea of where to put it. E.g. Euromarkets turbocharged so much disruption in the 70s and set the stage for far more in the 80s partly because there was too much at once to know what to do with it I think.
