Not that I can recall. There's little recorded from Glasgow. Artefacts from Yorkhill and Glasgowgreen, but no evidence of any infrastructure but I wouldn't be surprised if there was something around Govan area

Love this little sculpture on the Hugh MacDonald Memorial Drinking Fountain on Glasgow Green. I presume it's meant to be a lion's head, but it's quite anthropomorphic and always reminds me of Bert Lahr as the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz.

I hope none of the Santas taking part in today's Santa Dash at Glasgow Green had their sleighs impounded because they left them in the wrong place - if they did, it'll make their Christmas deliveries rather difficult!

The sign is the work of A Sign Of Humour.

This is a great local charity that is close to my heart, so if you enjoy the things I post throughout the year, please consider making a donation to them at www.beatsoncancercharity.org/donate/.

Just over 4,000 Santas (including me!) assembled at Glasgow Green this morning for the 2025 Santa Dash. This 5k run was being done in aid of the Beatson Cancer Charity.

The Bonnie Wee Well on Glasgow Green. Originally sited on Gleniffer Braes in Paisley, this drinking fountain is a memorial to the poet and writer Hugh MacDonald who died in 1860.

R.I.P. Mani
absolutely gutted to hear of #Mani passing, so grateful I had the pleasure of seeing the #stoneroses with the company of both boys Dylan & Kyle at the reunion gigs. #Glasgowgreen #heatonpark

Great energy at the climate march in Glasgow yesterday.

But marches are just the start. The real work is holding politicians' feet to the fire every single day. We need radical, systemic change, not just warm words and distant targets.

Lin and I took Hazel and Meg for a smashing walk through Glasgow Green and then down by the Clyde side this afternoon.

I’ve been trying to get out the house and push myself a bit more, and it fairly lifts the spirits. 🙂

As well as being an acomplished sculptor, for more than 40 years George worked for the Glasgow Humane Society (as his father did before him) and in that time he rescued more than 1,500 people from the same river.

Off to Glasgow Green for the climate march. It's a chilly one, but at least it's dry!

Hoping for a big turnout to help warm the place up. See you there?

However, despite its appearance, this was not a residential block, but was part of their gutta-percha factory. It was made to look like a tenement due to its prominent position overlooking Glasgow Green.

Originally known as Greenhead House, it was designed in a Classical style by Charles Wilson and built in 1846 for the cotton mill owner Dugald McPhail, after whom the nearby McPhail Street is named.
