(Hikone is a rather practical castle so climbing to the keep is a huge hassle on purpose, good view out over lake Biwa though)

Sure! Hikone is very close, just to the northeast by train, and is one of the few remaining original castles of Japan! Well worth a visit.

Hikone Castle was a highlight near Lake Biwa. Much fewer tourists than other castles I visited, and was super pretty even though it's smaller.

El castillo de Hikone es el primero que visité, allá en 1999, y no había vuelto. No lo recordaba tan chiquitín, es una cucada. Es uno de les 12 auténticos de Japón, los demás son reconstrucciones de cemento.
